The Friends hosted an illustrated talk by Jeremy Hodgkinson, author of ‘The Wealden Iron Industry’, entitled Iron-making and Gunfounding in 16th Century Buxted, on Thursday May 2nd at Hendall Manor Barns. Over 80 people attended and nearly £1,400 was raised.
Silver Stained Glass of Poynings completed a project this Spring to clean seven stained glass windows, namely the main east window, two on the north side of the sanctuary, the windows in the two side chapels and two further windows in the main body of the church. The windows all show a marked improvement and the total cost of £3,540 has been borne by The Friends.
The PCC has recently approved a number of minor projects to be undertaken, both inside and outside the church, totaling £1,900, which will be funded by The Friends. The work is due to start shortly.
The Friends have also agreed to fund £520, being 50% of the cost of repairs to the church heating system, which will need to be drained down during the summer months.
